Upper East Regional NCCE Collaborates with Youth Harvest Foundation to Champion Environmental Stewardship

The Upper East Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in partnership with the Youth Harvest Foundation, has engaged pupils of Anateem Basic School, Atuolisum Basic School, and Watania Islamic Basic School to commemorate the 2026 World Environment Day under the global theme, “Climate Action: Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future.”

The engagement sought to deepen environmental awareness among pupils and encourage them to take an active interest in protecting Ghana’s natural resources. The pupils were educated on their constitutional duty under Article 41(k) of the 1992 Constitution, which requires every citizen to protect and preserve the environment.

Officials of the NCCE and Youth Harvest Foundation encouraged the pupils to become environmental stewards in their schools, homes, and communities by caring for trees, keeping their surroundings clean, and supporting climate action through simple but meaningful everyday practices.

As part of the exercise, the team also monitored the growth of seedlings planted in the schools during last year’s World Environment Day celebration. The pupils were commended for nurturing the young trees and urged to continue caring for them while committing to plant more trees to help secure a greener and healthier future.
