NCCE Sensitizes Suma sum Weavers Association on Cyber Security and Sanitation

The Upper East Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has sensitized members of the Suma Sum Weavers Association in Bolgatanga on cybersecurity and good sanitation practices as part of activities outlined in its second quarter program guide.

The educational program was held on Wednesday, 3rd June 2026, at the Bolgatanga Jubilee Park. Present at the event were the Deputy Regional Director of the Commission, Mr. Akugri A. Augustine, the Chairperson of the Association, and 33 members of the Association.

During the engagement, participants were educated on the importance of maintaining good sanitation practices, especially as the region enters the rainy season. Mr. Akugri emphasized the need for households and workplaces to maintain strict environmental cleanliness to help prevent diseases such as malaria, diarrhea, and other communicable diseases that are common during the rainy season.

He encouraged the weavers to keep their surroundings clean at all times, including proper maintenance of cooking utensils and the elimination of stagnant water around homes and workplaces, which serve as breeding grounds for mosquitoes.

On cybersecurity, Mr. Akugri urged the women to practice responsible digital behavior and to be cautious while using online platforms. He warned them about criminal activities such as cyber fraud, scams, and cyberbullying, stressing the need for vigilance to avoid becoming victims.

He further cautioned participants against sharing nude pictures online, explaining that such images could be used by unscrupulous individuals to extort or blackmail them.

The members of the association expressed appreciation for the educational program and called for more of such engagements to continue enlightening them on important social issues.
