NCCE Marks 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration in the North East Region

The North East Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has commemorated the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration in selected basic schools across Nalerigu and Gambaga in the East Mamprusi Municipality under the theme, “Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility.”

The exercise provided a platform for engaging pupils on their rights and responsibilities as citizens, responsible use of digital technologies, and the need to uphold constitutional values both online and offline.

During the interactions, students were sensitized on online safety, the dangers of cyberbullying, misinformation, and internet fraud, as well as the importance of protecting personal information and demonstrating respect in digital spaces. The pupils were encouraged to think critically before sharing information online and to become responsible digital citizens.

The field engagements were also observed by Political Science students from the University for Development Studies who are currently undertaking their industrial attachment with the Commission. The students accompanied NCCE officers to the schools to gain practical exposure to civic education delivery and community engagement activities.

The activity forms part of NCCE’s efforts to nurture informed and responsible young citizens capable of contributing positively to Ghana’s democratic development in an increasingly digital world
