NCCE Kwahu East, GHS, GES and Social Welfare Mark World Menstrual Hygiene Day with JHS Students

The Kwahu East District Offices of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Ghana Education Service (GES), and the Social Welfare Department, have marked World Menstrual Hygiene Day with an educational programme for Junior High School students in the district.

The event, held on Thursday, 28th May 2026, took place at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, Nkwatia. It brought together health professionals, educators, and students with the aim of promoting menstrual hygiene, adolescent health awareness, and safe digital practices among young people.

The programme was organized for Junior High School students within the Kwahu East District, as part of efforts to support their physical, emotional, and digital well-being during adolescence.

Health professionals from the Ghana Health Service educated the students on the biological and emotional changes associated with puberty and emphasized proper menstrual hygiene practices to ensure health, confidence, and dignity.

The NCCE, led by the District Director, Ms. Roberta Ekua Essilfuah Koah, also sensitized students on safe digital behaviour. This included warnings against sharing nude or explicit images, avoiding suspicious online links, and protecting themselves from early exposure to pornographic content and other harmful digital materials.

Addressing the students, Ms. Koah stated that “the future is bright for the students only if they take care of themselves and make good decisions,” urging them to prioritize discipline, education, and responsible use of technology.

She further encouraged students to seek guidance from parents, teachers, and health professionals when faced with challenges relating to adolescence and online safety.
