NCCE Educates Public on Cybersecurity and Online Safety

The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has educated the public on cybersecurity and online safety as part of efforts to promote responsible digital citizenship.

The public education campaign, held at the studios of Taadi FM 99.1, sought to sensitize listeners on safe and responsible practices in the digital space.

The engagement was led by the Metro Director of the NCCE, Sekondi-Takoradi, Mrs. Harriet Addeywood, and a Civic Education Officer, Mr. Ambrose Solomon Eshun.

During the program, the resource persons highlighted the importance of protecting personal information online and cautioned the public against falling victim to online fraud, scams, and other forms of cybercrime.

They advised citizens to avoid sharing sensitive personal information on digital platforms, refrain from clicking on suspicious links, and exercise caution when interacting with unknown persons online.

The public was also encouraged to use social media and other digital platforms responsibly and to avoid cyberbullying and other harmful online activities that could negatively affect individuals and communities.

Mrs. Addeywood emphasized that cybersecurity was a shared responsibility and urged citizens to remain vigilant in their use of digital technologies.

She further encouraged the public to report suspected cyber-related offences to the appropriate authorities to help combat cybercrime and promote a safer digital environment.

The program formed part of the NCCE's ongoing civic education activities aimed at increasing public awareness of citizens' responsibilities and equipping Ghanaians with the knowledge and skills needed to stay safe in the digital era.
