NCCE Anloga Director Urges Citizens to Reset Values for National Development

The Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Anloga Directorate, Togbi Hatsu III, has called on Ghanaians to recommit themselves to the nation's core values, describing them as the foundation for sustainable development and national prosperity.

Speaking at the Anloga District Assembly Forecourt during the Republic Day celebration under the theme, "Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want," Togbi Hatsu III emphasized that Ghana's progress depends not only on government policies but also on the attitudes and actions of every citizen.

He noted that national development begins with the values citizens uphold and urged the public to embrace constitutional principles such as patriotism, honesty, integrity, discipline, hard work, accountability, tolerance, respect for the rule of law, respect for human rights, and peaceful coexistence.

The NCCE Director also called on citizens to take greater responsibility for protecting the environment. He encouraged tree planting, cautioned against indiscriminate development, and advised the public to refrain from building on waterways and wetlands. According to him, the recent flooding experienced in many communities demonstrates that environmental degradation affects everyone, regardless of political affiliation or religious beliefs.

Addressing issues of civic responsibility, Togbi Hatsu III urged Ghanaians to reject corruption, indiscipline, violence, and selfishness while embracing responsible citizenship. He encouraged citizens to protect state property, pay their taxes, obey the laws of the country, participate actively in community development, and remain accountable in their daily lives.

He further reminded the public that every currency issued by the Bank of Ghana is legal tender, stressing that refusing to accept any denomination of the Ghana cedi is contrary to the laws of Ghana.

According to the Director, building the Ghana citizens aspire to is a shared responsibility that requires the active participation of every individual. He reiterated the NCCE's message that while citizens are entitled to constitutional rights, they also have corresponding responsibilities towards the nation.

Togbi Hatsu III concluded by urging all Ghanaians to become ambassadors of positive change by resetting their values and working collectively to build a peaceful, united, disciplined, and prosperous Ghana for both present and future generations.
