Citizenship Week Celebration: Greater Accra Regional NCCE calls for Intentional Positive Digital Conduct

The Greater Accra Regional Office of the NCCE, in observation of the Commission's annual flagship programme, Citizenship Week Celebration, has called for positive online behaviour among the populace, especially the younger generation.

This call was made leveraging mass media engagement platform, and in-person engagement with pupils of Gray Memorial Basic School in Adabraka, Accra.

A Civic Education Officer of the Commission, Sharp Owusu, in an interaction with the pupils, set the tone by providing an overview of the programme and its significance. This was followed by an admonishment from the Greater Accra Regional Director, Mawuli Agbenu, who touched on maximising digital platforms for positive results.

Head of Communications at the Methodist Health Trust, Gabriel Nii Otu Ankrah, serving as the main speaker, focused on the following areas: what it means to grow up digital, the application of constitutional values online, cyberbullying, online safety, responsible social media use, the protection of personal information, and the importance of verifying information before sharing it.

Meanwhile, Korle Klottey Municipal Director of the Commission, Nii Adjiri Sackey, together with Sharp Owusu, and some young learners, made an appearance on Weslyan TV, where they discussed technology, social media use, online safety, and responsible digital behaviour.

Mr. Sackey stressed the importance of civic education in the digital age, the role of parents and teachers in promoting online safety, and the legal frameworks that regulate online conduct and protect users from cybercrime and digital abuse.

These engagements reaffirms the Commission's commitment to equipping children with the knowledge, values, and practical skills needed to navigate the digital space responsibly while upholding constitutional principles.
