Adentan NCCE Promotes Constitutional Values to Celebrate 2026 Citizenship Week

The Adentan Municipal Office of the NCCE, in commemoration of this year's Citizenship Week Celebration, has embarked on a series of engagements with some schools within the district, underscoring the enduring relevance of Ghana’s constitutional and legal frameworks in shaping the conduct of young citizens.

During a session with students of St. Ann School in Amrahia, an officer at the Municipal Directorate, Vida Obeng Addo, emphasised that the Constitution remains a guiding tool in the digital age, stressing that every Ghanaian child has a role to play in protecting democratic values both online and offline.

She noted that children’s daily interactions, whether in school, community, or on social platforms, carry implications for national unity, peace, and respect for the rule of law.

In a similar engagement at Tuskegee International School in Oyarifa, Mary A. Gyebi of the Municipal Office of the Commission broadened the conversation, touching on Ghana’s legal instruments, including the 1992 Constitution, the Children’s Act, and the Domestic Violence Act.

She explained that these laws extend into digital spaces, prohibiting harassment and safeguarding privacy. Pupils were guided to appreciate that rights are inseparable from duties, and that upholding national values is a responsibility that transcends both physical and virtual environments.

Citizenship Week Celebration is an annual flagship programme of the NCCE observed across the nation. It is designed to bridge traditional civic duties with modern realities, nurturing a generation of children who understand that civic responsibility is not confined to textbooks but is a living practice.
