The National Commission for Civic Education in the Fanteakwa South District of Osino launched the 2023 Citizenship Week Celebration with various activities.
The engagement with basic schools was under the theme”30 Years of Consolidating Constitutional Democracy and Building National Cohesion: The Role of the Youth”.
This exercise forms part of the Commission's flagship programmes. About 30 basic schools in the district were sensitized on the need to be responsible citizens.
Resource persons for the celebration were drawn from professional and occupational backgrounds.
At Ehiamenkyene Roman Catholic JHS where the launch kicked off, Mr. Kwadwo Adu-Asare, the District Director admonished learners to value patriotism and inculcate the spirit of good citizenship as a call duty.
Mr. Adu-Asare quoting Article 41(f) of the 1992 constitution reiterated that as students the focus should be on their studies to pass their exams and further their education to become prominent individuals in the society.
Madam Hannah Denkyira a woman activist and a key resource person urged learners to adopt volunteerism, and patriotism as a building block for national cohesion.
This activity took place on the 26th of May, 2023.
