NCCE Lower Manya Educates Fire and Ambulance Services on Right to Information

The Lower Manya Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education has organised a public education programme on the Right to Information (RTI) Act for personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service and the National Ambulance Service as part of activities marking the 2026 Constitution Week Celebration.

The engagement, held on Friday, 22nd May 2026, was led by the Municipal Director, Ansah David Livingstone, together with Mr Richard Asante Odei and Assistant Director, Miss Doris K Sackitey.

Speaking during the programme, Mr. Richard Asante highlighted the importance of the RTI Act in promoting transparency, accountability, and the fight against corruption. He explained that access to information is a fundamental human right guaranteed under the 1992 Constitution and stressed that every citizen, including vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities, has the right to request public information.

Participants were also taken through the importance, benefits, and exemptions under the RTI Act, as well as the procedures for accessing information from public institutions.

The programme ended with an interactive session where participants asked questions on the implementation and application of the Right to Information Act.
