NCCE Engages Muslim Community on Sanitation and Flood Prevention During Eid Celebration

The Amanses West District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has engaged members of the Muslim community at Atwere in the Ashanti Region on responsible citizenship, environmental sanitation, and flood prevention during the Eid Mubarak celebrations.

The engagement, held on Wednesday, 27th May 2026, formed part of the Commission’s nationwide public education campaign under the theme, “Upholding the Constitution in Our Age: Our Collective Responsibility.”

Speaking at the program, Senior Civic Educator, Mr. Stephen Agyei, expressed concern about recurring flooding incidents across the country, attributing many of the disasters to poor sanitation practices, indiscriminate waste disposal, and choked drainage systems.

He urged residents to dispose of waste properly, keep drains clean, and actively participate in community clean-up exercises, especially during the rainy season. According to him, environmental cleanliness remains a shared civic responsibility that contributes to public safety and national development.

The District Director of NCCE, Mr. Aziz Adjei Laryea, also educated participants on the responsibilities of citizens under the 1992 Constitution and called for collective efforts to protect the environment and prevent flooding.

Participants at the program shared concerns about sanitation and flooding challenges within their communities and commended the NCCE for the timely education. They also pledged their commitment to promoting cleanliness and responsible environmental practices.

The Amanses West District Office reaffirmed its commitment to continuous civic education and sensitization program aimed at promoting responsible citizenship, environmental sustainability, peaceful coexistence, and community development.
