NCCE Educates Unity Ladies Football Club on Gender Equality, GBV and Adolescent Health

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Central Tongu District Office, has engaged members of the Unity Ladies Football Club in a civic education program on gender equality, gender-based violence (GBV), and adolescent health.

The engagement, held at the Adidome Senior High School premises, brought together players and officials of the club as part of efforts to equip young people with knowledge to make informed and responsible decisions.

The program focused on the importance of promoting gender equality and ensuring that everyone is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect, regardless of gender. Participants were encouraged to challenge harmful gender stereotypes and support equal opportunities for both girls and boys in society.

The session also addressed gender-based violence, with discussions centered on its causes, effects and preventive measures. Participants were urged to speak out against all forms of violence, support survivors, and report cases of abuse to the appropriate authorities.

On adolescent health, the participants were educated on the physical, emotional, and social changes associated with adolescence. They were encouraged to make healthy choices, seek accurate and reliable information, and consult trusted adults or health professionals whenever they had concerns about their health and wellbeing.

Mr. Frank Azumah, who facilitated the engagement, emphasized that young people have an important role to play in promoting peaceful and respectful relationships within their families, communities and sporting environments.

He urged the participants to use the knowledge acquired to promote equality, prevent violence and contribute positively to their communities.
