NCCE Educates Pupils of Oyibi Presbyterian Primary B School on Climate Action

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Oyibi Zonal Office, conducted an educational outreach program for pupils of Oyibi Presbyterian Primary B School as part of the 2026 World Environment Day celebration under the theme “Climate Action.”

The program aimed to promote environmental protection and encourage responsible attitudes towards nature among pupils. During the engagement, the pupils were educated on practical ways of protecting the environment and contributing to climate action in their daily lives.

As part of the education, pupils were introduced to simple memory acronyms to help guide their environmental practices. One of the key acronyms discussed was SAVE, which stands for Sort waste properly, avoid littering, Volunteer for clean-up exercises, and engage in tree planting. The pupils were encouraged to consistently practice these actions to help maintain clean and healthy surroundings.

The interactive session also provided an opportunity for the pupils to share concerns about sanitation challenges within their communities, particularly issues relating to littering and illegal dumping of waste.

Furthermore, the resource persons introduced the CLEAN approach, which stands for Care for the environment, Limit pollution, Eliminate indiscriminate dumping, Act responsibly, and Nurture nature. This framework was used to reinforce the importance of environmental sustainability and responsible citizenship.

Additionally, the pupils were encouraged to become GREEN AMBASSADORS, Guardians of Responsibility, Environment, Education, and Nature, within their homes, schools, and communities. They were urged to lead by example and inspire others to adopt environmentally friendly practices.

The engagement enhanced the pupils’ understanding of climate action and motivated them to become active environmental stewards committed to protecting the environment and promoting a sustainable future for all.
