NCCE Assin Foso Office Joins National Prayer and Thanksgiving Service

The Assin Foso Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) joined government officials, security agencies, religious leaders, and residents in observing the 2026 National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day. The event, held at the Roman Catholic Church Centenary Hall in Assin Foso, highlighted the importance of unity, faith, and shared national values in building a better Ghana.

The interdenominational service, which commenced at 9:00 a.m., brought together key stakeholders from the municipality, including the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Baba Gariba Adam, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Ibrahim Saaka, heads of the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, and Ghana Immigration Service, as well as Assembly staff, heads of institutions, and leaders of various faith-based organizations.

Representing the NCCE Assin Fosu Municipal Office were Adabiyatu Balali Iddrisu, Yvonne Fosu, and Theresa Avoka, a National Service Person.

Opening the programme with a prayer, Rt. Rev. (Rtd.) Dr. Anthony Brafo of the Methodist Church set a solemn tone for the day's activities. In his welcome remarks, Mr. Ibrahim Saaka explained that the National Prayer and Thanksgiving Day was instituted by the President in recognition of the vital role prayer plays in promoting national peace, unity, and development.

Delivering the exhortation on the theme, "Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want," Rt. Rev. (Rtd.) Dr. Anthony Brafo urged Ghanaians to return to the moral and social values that once strengthened families and communities. He noted that "resetting" means restoring society to the principles that previously guided national development. He expressed concern over the growing culture of individualism, explaining that in the past, communities collectively contributed to the upbringing and moral development of children, especially during their formative years. According to him, reviving these shared values is essential to building the Ghana citizens aspire to achieve.

Addressing participants, Alhaji Baba Gariba Adam expressed appreciation for the peaceful coexistence and collaboration between Christians and Muslims. He commended the spirit of unity demonstrated during the service and encouraged residents to continue working together for the development of the municipality and the nation.

The programme concluded with a closing prayer offered by the Chief Imam, Mr. Iddrisu Mahama, at 2:30 p.m., bringing the National Prayer and Thanksgiving observance to a peaceful end.
