GARU NCCE HAS ENGAGED 27 BASIC SCHOOL STUDENTS AND TEACHERS ON DLES

As part of the activities on the DLEs, the Garu NCCE office of the Upper East Region visited 27 Basic Junior High Schools students and teachers on district level elections to promote the participation of women and other marginalized groups in the upcoming district level elections for assembly members and unit committee members

The schools include Siisi, Denugu, Farfar, Wakuam, Dusbuliga, Duuri, Songo, Kugri, Pialogu, Naatey, Garu Holy Angel, Garu Catholic, Garu Presby, Garu CB BOT, Garu D/A, Islamiya, Sumanduri, Mount-Zion, Garu Community Day SHS, Worikambo C/R and Worikambo D/A. The rest are Zaari, Kpatia, Meliga, Bugwia, Gbelinginvuus, and Gbantarago.

Speaking at the event, the Garu District Director, Mr. Akolgo Samuel Atando said this forms part of our activities for the electorates to develop interest in the DLEs to participate in voting as a civic responsibility.

He, therefore, encouraged the electorate the need for them to participate in the exercise and to turn up massively in voting since the exercise is their civic right and duty. He said, that in voting, we are also exercising our right of choice.

He admonished voters to appreciate elections as catalysts for the development of the country and desist from double registration and double voting. He stressed that voters comply with electoral commission regulations to ensure private and public security and peace.
