The Ekumfi District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) organised an inter-section Constitution quiz contest for members of the Civic Education Clubs of Begrat Preparatory School.
The programme was focused on enhancing students’ awareness of the 1992 Constitution, encouraging them to become well-versed in its provisions for its defence, and instilling in them knowledge of civic rights and responsibilities to enable them to become responsible citizens.
Delivering the opening remarks, the District Director, Madam Cecilia Dam, urged the students to become ambassadors for peace, the 1992 Constitution, and Ghana. She also urged them to do their best to uphold and defend the Constitution at all times.
During the contest, the quiz questions, which were drawn from the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, current affairs, and Ghana’s historical antecedents, saw the participating sections demonstrating their knowledge and understanding of the Constitution through their responses to questions which covered chapters (1,2,3,4,5 and 19) and provisions of the 1992 Constitution
The competition was in four rounds and was keenly contested between Section Red, Yellow, Green and Blue.
The contest ended with Section Green coming top with a maximum of 28 points, followed by Red with 25 points, Blue and Yellow with 21 and 19 points respectively.
It was worth noting that the contest provided an engaging platform for the students to test their knowledge of the Constitution while promoting civic awareness, patriotism, and active citizenship among young people.
The event took place at the Eyisam, on the Begrat Preparatory School premises. It was facilitated by Felix Dogbe (Quiz Master) and Dominic A. Addo (Score Master/Timekeeper).
The Headmistress, Madam Alice Adjumakoh, expressed her deepest gratitude for the initiative and commended the office for their unwavering visibility.
