The Bono Regional Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has called on Ghanaians to ensure that their daily interactions in the digital space reflect the guiding principles and philosophy of the 1992 Constitution.
Speaking during a radio discussion on Nimdee FM in Sunyani on Wednesday, 24th June 2026, the Bono Deputy Regional Director of the NCCE, Mr. Peter Kwabena Gyasi, stressed that online communication should uphold constitutional values such as freedom, justice, probity, accountability, the rule of law, and the protection and preservation of human dignity.
The radio discussion formed part of activities marking the 2026 Annual Constitution Week Celebration, held under the theme, "Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility."
Mr. Gyasi explained that moral guidelines, digital etiquette, and responsible conduct in the use of technology are essential for building a safe, peaceful, and inclusive society. According to him, the digital environment should be shaped by constitutional values, including respect for human dignity, privacy, freedom, justice, probity, and accountability.
He identified several online activities that undermine these constitutional values, including misinformation, disinformation, invasion of privacy, impersonation, digital fraud, identity theft, cyberstalking, and the online abuse of women and children. He cautioned that such practices threaten social harmony and violate the rights of individuals.
Mr. Gyasi therefore urged the public to use social media and other digital platforms responsibly by promoting constitutional values, fostering national cohesion, and contributing to peaceful coexistence, rather than using them to spread falsehoods or create tension in society.
The discussion reinforced the importance of responsible digital citizenship and highlighted the shared responsibility of all Ghanaians in protecting constitutional principles in the digital age.
