The Nkwanta North District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has officially launched the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration at Damanko JHS a Complex. The event, held on 15th June 2026, brought together pupils from five Junior High Schools across the district for educational and interactive activities aimed at promoting responsible citizenship among young people.
The program featured engagements with key stakeholders, including the District Coordinating Director, Mr. Samuel Gyamena; Mr. Ashon Emmanuel of the Ghana Education Service (GES), who served as the resource person; and Mr. Chrys Akordor, representing the GES District Director.
Launching the program on behalf of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nkwanta North, Mr. Samuel Gyamena emphasized the importance of civic responsibility and encouraged pupils to contribute positively to national development. He also highlighted the need for environmental cleanliness and discussed ongoing development projects within the district aimed at improving the welfare of residents.
As the resource person, Mr. Ashon Emmanuel educated the pupils on the benefits and risks associated with internet and smartphone usage. He urged them to use digital technologies responsibly by harnessing their educational and developmental advantages while avoiding harmful online activities.
The District Director of NCCE, Mr. Fuseini Nurudeen, sensitized the pupils on the importance of upholding the rule of law and embracing democratic principles. He encouraged them to respect the laws of the country, uphold democratic values, and cultivate responsible citizenship both online and offline.
The event forms part of the NCCE's annual Citizenship Week Celebration, which seeks to instill civic values, promote constitutional awareness, and encourage responsible digital citizenship among school children across Ghana.
