NCCE Krachi East Strengthens Partnerships with Key Institutions

The Krachi East Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has undertaken a series of working visits to key public institutions in the Municipality to strengthen collaboration and promote more effective civic engagement.

Institutions visited included the Krachi East Municipal Assembly, Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Passport Office, Food and Drugs Authority, Ghana Standards Authority, Ghana Customs Service, Ghana Immigration Service, and the Tourism Office.

The visits form part of the Directorate’s strategy to deepen institutional partnerships, enhance understanding of the NCCE’s constitutional mandate, and identify practical areas of cooperation in advancing civic responsibility, public education, and community development. The Directorate noted that closer coordination among institutions is essential for harmonising public education messages, improving citizen awareness of service procedures, and strengthening public confidence in state institutions.

During the engagements, the Municipal Director, Mr. Clement Kwesi Mamadu, and his team explained the Commission’s core work in civic education, including promoting respect for the Constitution, encouraging peaceful coexistence, and supporting citizen participation in local governance. They stressed that civic responsibility is reinforced when public institutions communicate clearly with the public on rights, duties, and lawful processes, especially in areas such as documentation, standards enforcement, public safety, and regulatory compliance. The NCCE team further emphasised that sustained inter-agency collaboration contributes to social stability by discouraging avoidable conflicts, reducing misunderstandings in service delivery, and promoting adherence to public regulations.

Heads and representatives of the institutions visited welcomed the initiative and commended the NCCE for prioritising stakeholder engagement. They acknowledged the role of civic education in strengthening democratic governance and pledged support for joint programmes, coordinated public sensitisation activities, and structured information sharing that will benefit residents across the Municipality. Some institutions indicated interest in collaborating on targeted public education sessions focused on public safety, lawful conduct, community peacebuilding, and responsible citizenship, delivered through community durbars, school engagements, and stakeholder forums.

The working visits also created space for dialogue on institutional challenges, service delivery expectations, and ways to improve public understanding of the roles and responsibilities of public institutions. Discussions touched on the need for clearer public guidance on institutional procedures, citizen conduct during service access, and the importance of timely and accurate information to reduce frustration and improve compliance. Both the NCCE and partner institutions reaffirmed their commitment to sustained cooperation aimed at empowering citizens with knowledge, encouraging lawful behaviour, and supporting development in the Krachi East Municipality.

The Directorate considers the engagements a strong foundation for building durable partnerships that will enhance coordinated efforts toward an informed, responsible, and participatory citizenry, while contributing to peace, improved service delivery, and inclusive local development.
