The Asutifi South District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) joined the District Assembly and other stakeholders to commemorate the 2026 World Environment Day with a tree planting exercise at Acherensua Agyewodin JHS.
The event, held on Friday, June 5, 2026, brought together traditional authorities from the Acherensua Traditional Council, the District Chief Executive, staff of the Forestry Commission, heads of departments, NCCE officials, headmasters, teachers, and students from Acherensua Senior High School and other basic schools in the area.
As part of the celebration, more than fifty trees of different species were planted on the school compound to help create a mini forest within the school environment.
The initiative is expected to provide shade for students and staff, protect school buildings from harsh weather conditions, and promote environmental sustainability. The trees may also serve as a future source of wood for furniture for the school.
Participants were encouraged to protect the environment through tree planting and proper environmental practices to ensure a greener and healthier future for generations to come.
