NCCE Ga West Marks Citizenship Week with Digital Citizenship Education for Sunday School Children

The Ga West Municipal Office of the National Commission for Civic Education has engaged Sunday school children at Church of Christ, Amasaman, and Calvary Baptist Church, Amasaman, on responsible digital citizenship as part of the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration.

The programme, held on Sunday, 24th May 2026, was organised under the theme "Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility" and the sub-theme "Growing Up Digital: The Ghanaian Child Upholding the Constitution Online".

Facilitating the engagement, Civic Education Officer Castro Kofi Appiah, assisted by Prosper Missinou, educated the children on misinformation, disinformation, cybercrime, digital fraud, and online abuse.

The facilitators cautioned the children against sharing false information online and advised them to verify information before posting or forwarding it on digital platforms. They also encouraged the children to avoid online scams, cyberbullying, and inappropriate internet activities while respecting the rights and dignity of others online.

The programme forms part of the Commission’s efforts to nurture responsible and constitutionally conscious young citizens capable of contributing positively to Ghana’s democratic development in the digital age.
