The Ga West Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education has engaged players of Genesis Football Club Under-11 on responsible digital citizenship as part of activities marking the 2026 Citizenship Week Celebration.
The programme was held at the Amasaman School Park on Saturday, 23rd May 2026. It was organised under the theme, “Upholding Our Constitution in a Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility,” with the sub-theme, “Growing Up Digital: The Ghanaian Child Upholding the Constitution Online.”
Facilitating the session, Mr. Castro Kofi Appiah, Civic Education Officer at the Ga West NCCE, educated the young footballers on misinformation, disinformation, cybercrime, digital fraud, and online abuse. He cautioned the children against sharing false information online and encouraged them to verify information before posting or forwarding content on digital platforms.
The players were also advised to avoid sharing personal information with strangers online and to report suspicious online activities to parents, guardians, teachers, coaches, or other trusted adults. Mr. Appiah further reminded them that responsible digital conduct requires discipline, respect, and good behaviour both online and offline.
He encouraged the young players to use technology positively to support learning, teamwork, unity, and national development. He also urged them to uphold the values of the 1992 Constitution by respecting the rights and dignity of others, avoiding harmful online conduct, and using digital platforms responsibly.
The engagement formed part of the NCCE’s efforts to nurture responsible, disciplined, and constitutionally conscious young citizens who can contribute positively to Ghana’s democratic development in the digital age.
