The Eastern Regional Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education has engaged officers of the Ghana Prisons Service at the Koforidua Prisons Yard as part of activities marking the 2026 Constitution Week Celebration.
The event, held on Friday, May 8, 2026, brought together officers of the Service, including Chief Superintendent of Prisons Francis Agyivey Kwakye, Officer in Charge of Koforidua Prisons, Superintendent Felix Odonkor, Third in Command, OSP Ezekiel Korletey, Public Relations Officer of Koforidua Prisons, Mr. Augustine Bosrotsi, Eastern Regional Deputy Director of the NCCE, and other officers.
In his welcome remarks, OSP Ezekiel Korletey expressed appreciation to the NCCE team for the engagement and commended the Commission for its efforts in promoting civic education and constitutional awareness.
Facilitating the main session, Mr. Augustine Bosrotsi took participants through the background of Constitution Week and explained the relevance of this year’s theme, “Upholding Our Constitution in a Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility.”
He highlighted the importance of protecting the Constitution in an era dominated by digital technology and discussed both the positive and negative impacts of the digital age on civic life. He urged officers to be mindful of their civic responsibilities and to use social media responsibly.
Mr. Bosrotsi also cautioned participants against the spread of misinformation and disinformation, stressing the need to verify information before sharing it online.
The engagement was highly interactive, with officers actively asking questions, sharing opinions, and contributing to discussions.
As part of activities to climax the celebration, officers who answered questions correctly during the interactive session were presented with copies of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
