NCCE Ekumfi Pays Courtesy Call on Chief of Abor to Strengthen Stakeholder Collaboration

As part of its stakeholder engagement activities, the Ekumfi District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Abor, Nana Amoasi VII, to strengthen relations with traditional authorities and promote collaboration in civic education within the community.

The visit took place at the Chief’s Palace on Friday, 13th June 2026. It formed part of the Commission’s continuous efforts to engage key community stakeholders whose influence and support are essential to the successful implementation of civic education programmes at the local level.

The NCCE delegation was led by the Ekumfi District Director, Madam Cecilia Dam. During the engagement, she introduced the mandate of the Commission and explained its role in educating citizens on the 1992 Constitution, civic rights and responsibilities, democratic participation, national unity, and peaceful community development.

Madam Dam noted that traditional authorities remain important partners in promoting civic awareness, social cohesion, and responsible citizenship. She explained that chiefs and elders serve as trusted leaders in their communities and therefore play a critical role in mobilizing citizens, supporting public education initiatives, and encouraging community members to participate actively in national development.

She further emphasized that the NCCE’s work becomes more effective when community leaders support its programmes and help extend civic education messages to residents, especially young people, women, and other identifiable groups within the community. According to her, such collaboration is necessary for building informed, law-abiding, and patriotic citizens.

Nana Amoasi VII and his elders warmly received the delegation and expressed appreciation to the NCCE for the visit. The Chief commended the Commission for recognizing the relevance of traditional leadership in advancing civic education and community development. He also showed keen interest in supporting initiatives that promote education, discipline, and responsible citizenship, particularly among school children.

The Chief noted that civic education is essential in shaping the attitudes and conduct of citizens, especially the youth. He indicated that programmes which help children understand their rights, duties, and responsibilities are important for building a more peaceful, respectful, and development-oriented society.

Following extensive discussions, Nana Amoasi VII assured the NCCE delegation of his readiness to support future programmes in the community. Although he had another engagement to attend, he took time to interact with the team and encouraged continued collaboration between the Commission and the palace.

He further assured the delegation that his palace remains open to future partnerships aimed at promoting civic awareness, education, and community development in Abor and its surrounding areas.

The visit ended with a group photograph with Nana Amoasi VII, his elders, and members of the NCCE delegation. The engagement reaffirmed the Ekumfi District Office’s commitment to strengthening stakeholder relations and working closely with traditional authorities to deepen civic education at the community level.
