The Atiwa East District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), with support from the Atiwa East District Assembly, successfully organized a quiz competition for security services in the district as part of activities marking the 2026 Annual Constitution Week Celebration, under the theme: “Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility.”
The competition, held on Thursday, 14th May 2026 at the Atiwa East District Assembly Hall, brought together personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Immigration Service and the National Ambulance Service. The Ghana National Fire Service, who were the defending champions, unfortunately pulled out of the competition at the last minute due to inadequate preparation.
The intellectually stimulating contest lasted five rounds, with each round featuring fifteen major questions. Contestants demonstrated remarkable knowledge and understanding of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution, the political history of Ghana, governance systems, and general knowledge.
Participants and spectators alike described the competition as educational, engaging, and highly competitive. The contest tested not only the contestants’ knowledge of constitutional provisions but also their awareness of national history and current affairs.
At the end of the keenly contested competition, the Ghana Police Service emerged winners with an impressive 87 points. The Ghana Immigration Service secured second place with 64 points, while the National Ambulance Service placed third with 59 points.
Speaking at the event, the Atiwa East District Director of NCCE, Mr. Saviour Ametefe, emphasized the importance of deepening constitutional awareness among security personnel and citizens, especially in an era where digital communication and misinformation continue to shape public discourse. He noted that security services play a crucial role in safeguarding democracy, promoting peace, and ensuring adherence to the rule of law.
Mr Ametefe further reiterated that Constitution Week Celebration remains an important national exercise aimed at promoting civic consciousness, patriotism, and respect for Ghana’s democratic values.
The Atiwa East District Assembly commended the participating security agencies for their dedication and enthusiasm and assured the NCCE of its continuous support for civic education programmes within the district.
The event ended with the presentation of certificates and applause from patrons who attended the programme. The competition also strengthened collaboration and unity among the various security agencies in the district while promoting constitutional literacy and national cohesion.
