Asutifi South NCCE Marks Constitution Week with National Service Personnel

The Asutifi South District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has commemorated the 2026 Constitution Week Celebration with an educational engagement for National Service Personnel during their orientation and election programme.

The programme, held at the Asutifi South District Assembly Conference Hall, brought together 74 National Service Personnel and key stakeholders to discuss responsible citizenship in the digital era.

Addressing participants, the District Director of NCCE, Mrs Georgina Agyeiwaa, delivered a presentation on the theme, "Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility." She highlighted the growing challenges posed by misinformation, disinformation, cybercrime, impersonation, and other forms of digital misconduct.

Mrs Agyeiwaa educated the service personnel on the social, legal, and national security implications of spreading false information and engaging in unlawful online activities. She emphasised the need for citizens to exercise caution when using digital platforms and to uphold the values and principles enshrined in the 1992 Constitution.

The participants were encouraged to be responsible, ethical, and law-abiding in their online interactions. They were also advised to leverage social media and other digital platforms positively by using them as tools for learning, entrepreneurship, innovation, and business promotion.

Mrs Agyeiwaa further urged the service personnel to become ambassadors of responsible digital citizenship by promoting truth, respect, and accountability in the online space.

The engagement featured interactive discussions that allowed participants to seek clarification on issues relating to digital safety, constitutional responsibilities, and civic conduct.

Present at the programme were the Regional Director of the National Service Scheme, the District Coordinating Director, the District Director of the Ghana Education Service, the District Director of the National Service Scheme, and other stakeholders.

The sensitisation forms part of NCCE’s nationwide Constitution Week activities aimed at promoting constitutional literacy, civic responsibility, and responsible digital citizenship among Ghanaians.
