NCCE BUILSA NORTH HOST CONSTITUTION QUIZ COMPETITION

The Builsa North Municipality of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organized a Constitution Quiz competition for Ayieta JHS and Christ the King JHS both in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region. The purpose of the quiz is to encourage reading among the youth and broaden citizens’ knowledge about the relevance of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana.

According to Mr. Jeffery Adda, the Municipal Director, it is “imperative to ensure that students in the municipality are conversant with the 1992 Republican Constitution of Ghana”. “It was to ensure that children and the youth are abreast with provisions therein in the Constitution that would enable them to become good citizens in the future”, he added.

The director said the Constitution must be taught in various schools and that the NCCE was ready to engage the youth especially in knowing their rights and civic responsibilities. He advised the students to focus on their studies and to ask for assistance when facing difficulties. The participatory schools were also encouraged to be good citizens knowing their socio-political structures and the governance system to be able to contribute meaningfully to national development.

Mr. Adda assured those gathered of the Commission’s continuous efforts towards educating the youth within the municipality as education remains a priority to the NCCE.

At the end of the competition, Ayieta JHS won with 90 points to Christ the King JHS’ 87 points. The participants were giving copies of the pocket-sized Constitution, books and pens and the winners received a certificate.
