Continue Adhering to COVID-19 Safety protocols-Ms. Addy

The Deputy Chairman of the NCCE in charge of Finance and Administration, Ms. Kathleen Addy has underscored the essence for Ghanaians to continue observing the COVID-19 safety measures.

She made this call during a talk show programme at Spice FM and Radio Shama in the Takoradi, as part of a two-day working visit to the Western Region.

Touching on the activities of the NCCE with regards to COVID-19 public sensitisation, she said the Government gave 50 vehicles to the Commission, which are being used to undertake the campaigns.

Of the number, she said seven (7) vehicles were allocated to the Western Region, with Mpohor, Ahanta West, Shama, Ellembelle, Nzema East, Effia Kwesimintsim and Prestea HuniValley Districts being beneficiaries.

As a result, the Deputy Chairman observed that it has intensified public education within and around the beneficiary districts as well as other districts on COVID 19 safety protocols.

She stressed on the COVID-19 preventive measures, including the compulsory wearing of facemasks in public spaces, frequent washing of hands with soap under running water, and observance of social distancing.

Ms. Addy urged Ghanaians and the residents in the Region to stop Stigmatising against persons who recovered from COVID-19 and rather support them.

Ms. Addy who later toured the Jubilee Park Market on Friday interacted with the market women and advised them to observe the preventive measures on COVID-19 in order to stop the spread.

“The pandemic is real and people should take personal hygiene seriously” she stated.

In a meeting with the staff of the Commission, she urged them to work hard to justify investment the Government has made in the NCCE.

She was accompanied on the tour by Mr. Justice Y. Ennin, Regional Director, Mr Tugbenu, Metro Director and Mr. Baffoe Effia Kwesimintsim Municipal Director.
