NCCE, NABCO SIGN A PARTNERSHIP MOU ON CIVIC GHANA MODULE

The National Commission for Civic Education, NCCE, and the Nation Builders’ Corps, NABCO have signed a partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to build the capacity of 100,000 NABCO trainees nationwide on good citizenship, Ghanaian values and constitutional rights and responsibilities of citizens. This is to equip and resource the 100,000 NABCO trainees to become nation builders and community advocates and to promote responsible citizenship among the working youth for a more committed and responsible human capital resource base for Ghana.

Speaking at the signing of the MUO, Ms. Josephine Nkrumah, the Chairman of the NCCE, in her welcome address, said the partnership is to develop skills and enhance the values of all 100,000 NABCO officers nationwide. She stated that the mandate of the NCCE, under the constitution is to conscientize Ghanaians to be civic-minded in order to sustain our democracy and to ensure we become active citizens for the nation’s building.

Ms. Nkrumah said, the NCCE together with trained regional and district trainers from NABCO would deploy training and capacity building using a manual designed by the NCCE for the 100,000 NABCO trainees. “Hopefully, we believe that these trainees will understand the prominence of civic consciousness and also become the change we are looking for”, she added.

Dr. Anyars Imoro Ibrahim, CEO of NABCO in his speech, indicated that this partnership is to further the value addition component on the scheme and to expose the trainees to in-depth content of the constitution of the Republic of Ghana as nation builders and community advocates. He mentioned that this will be achieved through a guarantee workplace, continuing training and learning as well as the exposure towards a range of special projects. He thanked the Commission for its commitment and partnership towards the project.
