IT IS AN OFFENCE TO AID FOREIGNERS REGISTER FOR GHANA CARD

The Adaklu District Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has admonished Ghanaians to refrain from aiding foreigners to register the Ghana Card. Addressing residents of Adaklu, to enlighten the people on the necessary requirements for the registration of the Ghana Card, a Civic Educator, Mr. Francis Asamani said the Ghana Card is a national identity card being issued by the National Identification Authority, NIA to all qualified Ghanaian citizens. He said that it is an offence to vouch for persons who are not citizens of Ghana. He cautioned that anyone found guilty would face the law.

He said this during an outreach programme in the Adaklu communities to educate them on the importance of getting the card and processes they have to go through to get their cards. He said, “in order to get a credible register of Ghanaians, there was the need for people to be truthful and transparent”.

Senior Civic Education Officer of the NCCE, Yvonne Awlavi advised the communities to generate their Ghana Post (GPS) addresses before going to the centers for registration, adding that without the address they would not be registered. She urged the communities to be alive to their responsibilities by providing reliable and adequate information to enable the National Identification Authority (NIA) to compile a credible national register.
