NCCE AND GHANA HEALTH SERVICE EMBARK ON A CLIENT SATISFACTION SURVEY

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service (GHS) is organizing a training workshop for 24 Research Assistants and 8 District Directors as the Commission takes up a task to conduct a survey on client satisfaction. The client satisfaction survey is in line with a GHS pilot project on Community Performance-Based Financing (cPBF). The project will be undertaken in 8 districts of 4 regions in Ghana. The beneficiary regions are:

  • Northern: West Gonja and North Gonja
  • Upper East: Talensi and Bawku West
  • Upper West: Nandom and Lawra
  • Volta Region:Agortime Ziope and Kadjebi

The project aims at providing logistics and incentives to Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) zones and Community Health Teams (CHTs) towards strengthening maternal and child health care service delivery at the community level. Again, the project will help establish an evidence-based approach to improve health outcomes at the community level and to explore whether providing performance-based incentives to CHPS zones could influence behavior change of health workers at that level or improved access, utilization of health services and improvement in health outcomes.

The survey which will be carried out on a quarterly basis within a period of one and a half years will also assess health care services rendered, quality of care, and client/patient satisfaction with care. Pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children under two years are the main targets for the survey.

Act 452 (1993) mandates the NCCE to assess for the information of government, limitations, and for the achievement of true democracy arising from the existing inequalities between the different strata of the population and make recommendations for redressing these inequalities. In view of this, the Commission’s Research Gender and Equality Department (RGED) have over the years conducted social, economic, and political studies to primarily inform its civic education programmes and the upcoming survey on client satisfaction is no exception. The workshop is from the 27th to the 29th of June, 2019.
