The Deputy Chairman, Operations for the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), Mr. Samuel Asare Akuamoah, has called on corporate institutions to redirect their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to civic Education to make Ghanaians more civic conscious. He made the call at the 218 NCCE/ COWBELL Constitution Quiz in Accra.
Mr. Akuamoah said, such support from corporate institutions will enable the Commission to carry out its constitutional. He explained, the support will help bring to the doorstep of every Ghanaian particularly the youth, the teachings of the 1992 Constitution.
Mr. Akuamuah expressed satisfaction and excitement about the success of this year’s edition of Cowbellpedia which equips youth-in-school with knowledge about the 1992 Constitution and governance issues. He advised the students to read the 1992 Constitution, put whatever they have learned about the Constitution to practice and protect the laws of the nation.
The Ga Central Municipal Chief Executive, Dr. Emmanuel Lamptey, said the programme is an annual event and it will make students understand the 1992 Constitution and learn about governance. He explained that the programme will equip students with knowledge on their civic right and responsibility. He praised the NCCE for educating the youth on constitutional and civic matters.
The Brand Manager for Cowbell, the sponsor for the event, Joseph Ashong, said Cowbellpedia, has come to stay. He noted that, this is part of Promasidor’s CSR to assist NCCE in educating the public about the 1992 Constitution.
The 2018 NCCE /Cowbell Quiz saw 10 schools participating, 6 Junior High schools and 4 Senior High Schools. Glorious Jesus School and Conquerors Academy High School emerged winners in the JHS and SHS categories respectively.
