Blessed Assurance Preparatory School at Swedru, in the Central Region, has won the NCCE’s district Constitution quiz competition. The Agona West Municipal Director of the NCCE, Mr. Sekyi Sam said the NCCE’s Constitution quiz competition is one of the Commission’s flagship programmes which seeks to examine pupils level of knowledge of the 1992 Constitution. It is also to create constitutional awareness among the youth.
Mr. Sam commended the performance of pupils who took part in the competition. He announced that, the competition would be organized annually to enable the pupils to study all aspects of the 1992 Constitution in order to have command over the laws of Ghana.The Agona West Municipal Director of Education, Mrs. Elizabeth Helen Essel, praised the NCCE for organizing the competition which she deemed, would encourage pupils to take the study of the 1992 Constitution seriously. Assembly Member for Assissim/ Abronye/ Bungalow Electoral Area, Monica Esi Crentsil, called for more support for the NCCE to help sustain the contest and discharge its constitutionally mandated functions effectively and efficiently.
Five basic schools that emerged winners in different zones took part in the Constitution quiz competition. At the end of the contest, Blessed Assurance was crowned winners with 54 points. The school took home a trophy, a plaque and copies of the 1992 Constitution. Swedru Methodist Basic School “A” came 2nd with 49 points, Swedru Presbyterian Basic School was third with 45 points, Swedru A.M.E. Zion “A” had 38.5 taking the fourth position and Swedru Salvation Army “A” took the last place with 37 points.
